What to enter
| Input | Meaning and units |
|---|---|
| Original price | Enter original price using the definition in the method and example. |
| Discount (%) | Enter percentage units: 5 means 5%, not a fraction of 0.05. |
Understanding your result
The outputs describe the mathematical scenario you entered. Assumed rates, timing and included costs determine the result; an estimate is not an offer or eligibility decision.
Common mistakes
- Mixing annual and monthly periods, or leaving out a cost that the model does not include.
Check your calculation
- Compare a simple one-period or zero-change case with hand arithmetic before applying a longer scenario.
How much will I pay after a percentage discount?
Enter the original price and discount percentage to see the amount saved and the final price before any added tax or shipping.
Common uses
- Calculate a sale price.
- Compare savings from different discount percentages.
How it works
Multiply the price by the discount rate to find the saving, then subtract it from the original price. Price and saving use half-up rounding to two decimal places. The final price subtracts the rounded saving, so the displayed amounts reconcile. Shipping, sales tax and additional promotions are excluded.
Worked example
An 80 item discounted by 25% saves 20 and has a final price of 60.
